Summer is almost here!

Yep thats right its almost time for Summer vacations! I cant wait, Josey will be here for the summer in about 2 weeks (he lives with his dad during the school yr) and is ready to work on building raised gardens, go fishing and camping, and generally have fun playing. Sunday he and I worked on building the east and south side raised Iris beds. We dug out and leveled the small one, put the timbers in, layed out the black plastic and started filling it with the dirt removed earlier. The plan is to fill it level with the top of the timbers with the removed dirt then add some flower type garden soil/fertilizer to it then, keeping the front level with the timbers build up the back and middle about an inch or 2 higher so that theres a slope for runoff. We planted several Glads while filling the bed and will do the same around the other side of the bed when we get to it. The Irises in the old S side bed are almost done blooming so will be moving them in the next week or 2 into the new side temporarily until we can gift some of them, trade some for different colors, and get the old bed deweeded and rebuilt fro planting
The beds on the other side of the front porch will get the same treatment when the Irises are done blooming.
Heres what it looked like when Josey and I started. More pics will come as soon as I upload them, OOPS
I’ve gotten Jacobs sock to with in an inch of the toe so will hopefully be able to call it finished in the next few days!!! I also got the first pair of Fuzzy feet started
I have actually got the foot almost done its at 6 inches now and needs to be 9in before the toes starts. This is by far the biggest sock type object I’ve made! If I had actually knit on it and not done anything else I woulda had the first one done and the second one prob at this spot now, oh well, storms and gardening got in the way
I am thinking about winding up the Wild Child skein of yarn and starting a pair of socks for recipient yet untold.
Oh Before I forget… I signed up for Summer of Socks 2008, it sounds like alot of fun! JUst click the linkie provided and check it out!
